Work Experience
BY JENELLE CLEARY
Work
experience plays a vital part of your time at school or uni.
It allows you to 'test the waters' and experience what it
is like to be working 'nine to five'.
Your work experience
co-ordinaor will assist you in finding work, but to make it
worthwhile, have an idea of what you may like to do. Work
experience also helps you to decide if a field of work you
are interested in, is really for you.
If you like animals then you may enjoying working at a Lost
Dogs Home or a veterinary clinic. If you are interested in
hospitality then think about hotels and restaurants. The possibilities
are endless!
Before you begin work find out as much as you can. Ask questions
regarding what you are required to wear, what hours you will
be working and even do a 'test-run' of travelling to work
so you know how long it will take and where it is.
When you reach the end of your work experience you may have
a fair idea about what a career in your chosen field would
be like. If it wasn't for you then maybe it would be worthwhile
organising some more work experience in your holiday break.
It all adds up to a great experience and looks fabulous on
a resume!
