Libraries today offer a lot more than just books, with posters,
photos and audio from years ago available.
They often act like museums, with full featured exhibitions,
containing all types of media. This makes them perfect for
displaying exhibitions online.
It is unlikely that you will get to go to the National Library
of Australia every day, unless you live in Canberra, but the
collection of online exhibitions that you can browse through
is well worth a look.
The National Library in Canberra They focus on Australian
historical resources, such as reports by an crew member of
the first fleet, historical posters and photography collections.
The George Raper Collection is the newest aquisition by the
library and features recollections and drawings by a midshipman
on the crew of HMS Sirius, the flagship of the first fleet.
George Raper circumnavigated the globe, experiencing shipwreck
on Norfolk Island and faced court-martial for the loss of
the ship!
