The Fast & The Furious franchise is one of the true anomalies of Hollywood in an era of reboots and re-envisionings. What was once a fairly stock-standard early 2000s action movie has now turned into one of the most credible franchises in Hollywood.
How did that happen? Bear in mind, Police Academy (the butt of all sequel related jokes) only had seven movies... we are now up to Fast & Furious 6! Despite two terrible sequels to the original with equally terrible titles (2Fast2Furious and Tokyo Drift) the franchise was able to revive itself without actually "doing a Spider-Man" and recasting. They went back to basics and brought back the originals.
It's actually a genius move.
The new movie looks better than ever, and did we mention A CAR FLIES OUT OF AN EXPLODING PLANE!
The whole team is back with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson leading the retur of an all star cast as the new flick speed races to its next continent in Fast & Furious 6.
Reuniting for the adventure are fan favourites Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and Elsa Pataky as well as a series of newcomers including Luke Evans and Gina Carano.
The question is, how many more sequels will they get away with? Dad reckons 10.
FAST & FURIOUS 6 hits Australian theatres on June 6.
