Gravity
Sneak Peek at "Gravity"
Every now and then a movie trailer comes along that just makes your head explode. Gravity is one of those trailers.
While on the surface the trailer for Gravity could be mistaken for a Jimmy Kimmel skit making fun of a movie as stupid and outrageous as this... when you really stop and just think about it... it's all kinds of awesome! Case closed!
What we know about the film so far is little, but of what we know, it's simple and superb. Astronauts attempt to return to earth after debris crashes into their space shuttle, leaving them drifting alone in space.
The film stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock and directed by Alfonso Cuarón (the man behind the excellent Children Of Men) so benefit of the doubt should be given here. If Michael Bay was directing, it might be a totally different situation.
What I love about the trailer for Gravity is how it delivers the sensation of claustrophobia within the infinite vastness of space. It's a truly sublime and scary concept.
The biggest selling point here will be the IMAX. I've been very pro-IMAX for a long time now, and with a film like this - with shots using scale and space - it's the perfect subject matter to showcase the technology.
The biggest variable of Gravity will be Sandra Bullock, one of the most famous "hot depending on what angle the camera is at" actresses currently in show business.
