Pacific Rim

Sneak Peek at "Pacific Rim"

It's been over five years since we last saw a film actually directed by one of the few visionaries that deserve the tag : Guillermo del Toro. His name has been attatched to nearly every movie under the sun (at one point he was meant to be in charge of The Hobbit movies) but as his "own visions" go, theyve been few and far between.

So, it's pretty damn exciting to see what he's got in store for us. He's gone big!

The set up for Pacific Rim is simple : to stop a monster, you need to create a monster! So, when legions of monstrous creatures known as Kaiju started rising from the sea, a war begins thats could potentially take millions of lives and ruin humanity for years to come.

In an effort to stop the killer Kaiju, a special weapon is devised : massive robots controlled by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge called Jaegers.

Despite the robots powers, they are still proving almost useless against the megabeast, that's until two unlikely heroes (classic hero archetypes - a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee) team up and bring something unexpected to the table.

On paper and on screen this looks like a super expensive anime movie, which means it'll likely be an enormous hit (if not in the USA, definately in Asian markets which now account for a MASSIVE amount of decsions Hollywood makes these days).

Looks like fun!
