Katy Steele - Fire Me Up Australian Tour

The girl who set hearts a flutter in the mid 2000s as the short skirt wearing lead singer of Little Birdy is back with a brand new swag of songs... but this time, solo!

Little Birdy were one of the most popular Aussie music acts during that little Perth boom period which saw the likes of Eskimo Joe, The Sleepy Jackson, End of Fashion and Birdy get swept up in the Aussie mainstream explosion (thanks largely to the likes of Jet finding worldwide fame), with it all culminating in 2009 and Little Birdy's highest selling Aussie album "Confetti".

But, as is often the case, the bubble burst and Katie left for New York to find her own voice (whose voice she was using prior to this I am unaware).

Anyhow, the relocation gave birth to a new direction for the pint sized Steele who claims that the rebirth is the "most exciting" thing to happen to her due to "being able to fully realise and new musical way forward".

The new record was put together in various apartments around Brooklyn, but didn't find it's true spirit until producer Joel Hamilton (whose worked with the likes of Pretty Lights and Tom Waits) came on board.

The first song, Fire Me Up, has made its way online and is already getting tongues wagging about the triumphant return of Steele as a solo artist.

She's also going to kick start a tour, the dates of which can be found below... this sentence... so look there... underneath here... now.
