Two young people renew a friendship after many years following a chance meeting outside Flinders Street Station. The reunion quickly evolves to one of infatuation and then, at least on the part of Alexander Bishop, to love. From early on there are doubt's as to whether Madigan Sagood reciprocates her feelings or whether she has more sinister motives.
After the death of Madigan by her own hand weird things start to happen to Alex. Events occur in his life that he can't recall. Big slabs of memory disappear and he does things when, as far as he is concerned, he was asleep. Finally Alex begins to realise that it may not be just his consciousness living inside his head.
The dilemma for the reader is whether Alex has become highly paranoid and delusional or whether he has been possessed. The plot is not so complex that you can't second guess the outcome.
Although the literature describes this book as being in the style of Stephen King it is clear that they must be referring to his formative years. A light read and a bit of fun.
