By Robert Barr and modified by C.M. Tognetti (20
April 2006)
Mountain
Divorce is a short dramatic story with a deadly twist. It was written
around 1900 by Robert Barr and has been modified by Christine Tognetti
to assist people learning to master the English language. Parts of the
words are bracketed and purposefully misspelled to ensure the reader
can mimic the sound of the words and to speak English with the correct
pronunciation.
This
form of modification that she developed is called Bracket Read.
Christine is a qualified and practising speech pathologist and
therefore understands the issues that someone who is trying to learn to
speak English encounters.
She discovered that once someone can
master the pronounciation of the words then comprehension and
communication skills improve dramatically as well.
It comes with
its own chart as well as the story written in normal English as well as
Bracket Read. This book is a must for any speech pathologist, every
parent where the child is struggling with their verbal communication or
perfect for any one where English is not their first language.
