American Pie: The Wedding

Review by James Anthony

The American Pie phenomenon has rolled across our screens for some years now, leaving behind a trail of jokes - good and bad - images (some horrendously burnt into my memory) and embarrassing gags.

There has been the infamous pie scene, the semen-in-the-beer episode, the superglue on the male appendage and a host of others that have either been so gross or humiliating it was hard not to laugh.

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

Fear not, fans of American Pie and its crew, there are new moments of cinematic horror to enjoy although it has to be said that American Pie: The Wedding adds little to what has gone before.

Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) are getting married and so their trials and tribulations, usually brought about by that arch-dork Stifler (Seann William Scott), dominate proceedings.

And, while being nice and inducing the warm and fuzzies, unfortunately it is a little flat.

Eugene Levy again deadpans his way through, both Biggs and Hannigan are amusing rather than hilarious, and all you want to do is smack Stifler around a bit.

There are some hugely awful moments - like when Stifler has to eat dog poo and bonk a grandmother - but overall it isn't as lively or funny as previous Pies.

The video transfer is okay and the sound pretty good.

If we have a fourth edition let's hope they return to the winning formula of utter humiliation - it was nasty, but so much funnier.

Conclusion: Movie 75% Extras 65%
