Bad Boys 2

Review by James Anthony

The Bad Boys are back in town and it has to be said there are few films out there that can match this sequel for pure action.

Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) are partners who fight more than a mismatched married couple and yet whenever danger appears they are always there for each other.

This time around the guys are trying to track down a massive shipment of ecstasy that a seriously loony Cuban drug lord Johnny Tapia (Jordi Mollà) is planning on importing.

Well, that's the main plot - there are subplots galore - including Lowrey getting it on with Burnett's sister Sydney (Gabrielle Union).

The most important thing about Bad Boys II, however, is its level of action and that has been ramped up as if on steroids.

Anything that can be blown up will be and anything that can be shot will also be.

It is pure carnage from go to whoa with heaps of laughs in between.

Some may have found the corpses and mortuary scenes a little over the top, but this sicko almost wet himself, particularly when Burnett utters the perfect line "I smell dead people."

And, if you keep a straight face after he has accidently taken two ecstasy tablets then you must be dead because it is side-splitting stuff.

Bad Boys II is not brain food - but it is perfect for action junkies.

The video transfer is very good quality, although not perfect, and the sound will have your theatre system working overtime.

Conclusion: 80% Extras: 75%.
