(2000)
Roadshow Home Entertainment
114 minutes
M15+

Director: Roger Christian.

Cast: John Travolta, Barry Pepper, Forest Whitaker, Kim Coates, Richard Tyson, Sabine Karsenti.

Format: Widescreen. Single-sided, dual-layer disc.

Language: English. Dolby Surround 5.1, 2.0 for audio commentary.

Subtitles: English - Hearing Impaired.

Extras: Audio commentary from director Roger Christian and production designer Patrick Tatopoulos, short features on Evolution and Creation, storyboard montage, John Travolta make-up test, creative visual effects, teaser trailer, theatrical trailer, cast and crew bios.

Comments: Sometimes an interesting batch of extras can save a DVD because it gives it the chance to redeem itself after an ordinary movie. In this case, the extras half save Battlefield Earth. The commentary sounds very much like the director and production chief were wanting to excuse the quality of the movie by bringing in such things as "the way you approach the film". Didn't work with this fellow. The pick of the extras are the short features which go into how the film was brought about, how it was filmed and you get to see the seemingly ever-changing look of John Travolota's character Terl.
