Comments on extra features:

This is one of the best DVD extras packages ever set down on plastic. It is huge and there are some utterly rivetting docos within them that make for incredible viewing. For mine were the docos on the actual mission (on disc 3) where you hear many of the veterans of the Mogadishu debacle talk about their experiences. You also have Black Hawk Down author Mark Bowden commenting on the situation in a matter of fact, but hard-hitting way. Some of the film footage in this and the other excellent doco Frontline: Ambush in Mogadishu is horrific and should only be watched under adult supervision.
Another winning extra is the Making-of doco, which goes for almost two hours. You get to see how the military helped prepare the actors for their combat roles and there are a lot of good interviews with the main actors. One of the highlights from this section is showing how CGI helped make the movie what it was - I was gobsmacked at how much was actually computer generated.
The audio commentaries offer some real insights into both the actual situation in Mogadishu, and how Ridley SCott and his team went about recreating the carnage.
Well done Columbia TriStar.
