Bones

Review by James Anthony

In the 1970s Jimmy Bones was the man of the neighbourhood. He ruled it like a benevolent king until he was killed in a takeover attempt.

Two decades later his now-derelict house is being renovated by three keen young lads who want to turn it into nightspot and impress their dad.

The only problem is that their dad was somehow tied up with the death of Bones and he doesn't want his kids returning to the 'hood he spent so long getting out of.

Soon nasty things start to happen as, one-by-one, the ageing murderers start coming to grisly ends and with each death Bones gets stronger and more able to exact his revenge.

Bones, the movie, is a pretty gory bit of film that has some good ikky moments and some not bad performances.

Rap star Snoop Dogg plays the undead-dead one and does a good job. Pam Grier plays a mysterious psychic, Michael Weiss a corrupt cop and Clifton Powell the now successful former friend.

Other than that the rest of the cast is youngsters who are fine as potential walking targets.

The video transfer is good and its scary moodiness is well suited to the colour range and dark way in which it was shot.

Bones was better than I thought it would be - although that is starting from a very low expectation base.

Conclusion: 60% Extras: 30%.
