(1999)
Universal
98 minutes
MA15+

Director: Ian Mune.

Cast: Temuera Morrison, Clint Eurera, Nancy Brunning, Rea Owen, Julian Arahanga.

Format: Widescreen. Single-sided, dual-layer disc.

Language: English. Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0.
Subtitles: English.

Extras: Making-of doco, music videos, bios, photo gallery.

Comments: Because the cast is not well known internationally, the bios are much more interesting than usual and give you a good look at the history of the actors. The 22-minute making-of doco is terrific, with excellent interviews with Temuera Morrison, Rena Owen, the make-up and artistic staff and director Ian Mune. It's good to hear Morrison talking in his not Jake-the-Muss character and about how he had to go from being a clean-cut doctor on a soapie to building up with weights and learning to fight. The look at the makeup department and how they designed tatts for the gang members is also a key part. You also pick up little bits of mind-blowing info such as how one of the characters took seven hours to pen their tattoos on. Very good stuff indeed.
