However, it has to be said that for viewers Bruce being given
the powers of God is massively funny.
So a skeptical Bruce heads off as the great one and manages
to do such things as parting tomato soup, mucking around with
the moon and stars to make it a more romantic night with his
girlfriend (Jennifer Anniston) among other things.
The trouble is that while using his powers to get his own
life back in order hes tended to stuff it up for everyone
else.
Hes not been answering prayers and when he grants all
of them at once to get rid of the backlog he unleashes major
chaos upon the world. Well not mention the earthquake
and floods his repositioning of the stars has caused around
the globe.
Almighty Bruce is a hugely enjoyable romp with Carrey being
reasonably restrained as God. Hes exceptionally likeable
and all you want is for him to have a good life.
Morgan Freeman is (as usual) just wonderful as the wise old
head, that is God in this case, and he takes a nicely savage
delight in showing Bruce that being in charge is not easy.
Jennifer Anniston is good as Bruces love, but finds
it hard to compete with the scene-stealing fellows.
