Marty discovers that in the Hill Valley of 1885 things are
not what they are in the 1980s - particularly the water -
and a slight brush with an arrow means that the time machine
has run out of petrol.
So the Doc and he need to work out a way to get the vehicle
up to 88 miles an hour - the speed at which they can get the
old flux capacitor going into hyperdrive.
They also need to work out a way to save Doc from Mad Dog
Tannen (Thomas Wilson), an ancestor of the timelessly awful
Biff Tannen.
In addition Marty, seemingly in multiple rescue mode, needs
to rescue Doc from the loving clutches of one Clara Clayton
(Mary Steenburgen) and get him back safely to their proper
time zone.
Of the Back to the Future series I reckon this one
is my favourite. Maybe it's the western approach, or the mix
of High Noon with Clint Eastwood thrown in, but it
just rounds off the series beautifully.
The transfer of Back to the Future 3 is simply stunning.
It is one of the best I've seen with perfect sharpness, clarity
and colour. The sound, like in the rest of the series, is
superb.
As said before, this trilogy should be watched fairly close
together so you can not only enjoy the seamless nature of
the storyline, but also marvel at the brilliant job done by
Zemeckis and Co. in making sure there were no continuity glitches.
This is a must-buy set.
