Carry On Cowboy

If you like humour - with plenty of shootings and dead bodies - then this little Carry On may be to your liking.

Carry On Cowboy is a very funny look at the Wild West and has the cast playing it straight - well, almost.

The scene is Stodge City where the local townsfolk are being monstered by the gun-slinging Rumpo Kid (Sid James).

Carry On Cowboy

Judge Burke (Kenneth Williams) is desperate to replace the newly killed sheriff and so makes an urgent call for a US marshal to be sent. A marshal is duly dispatched, but only in name - Marshal P. Knutt (Jim Dale).

Knutt is a plumber and finds himself right up to his neck in the muck that follows.

Carry On Cowboy is one of the funniest of the series and the crew do a great job with the accents. There are heaps of great moments and Charles Hawtrey (you know the really skinny one) has never been better as Chief Big Heap.

Mind you, a lot of people die - although this tends to amplify the humour against its semi-serious presentation. The video transfer is very good, but does have a small number of artefacts, and the sound is okay.

Conclusion: Movie 70% Extras 20%
