Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

It is probably a little unfair on Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, but having just seen The Return of the King not 24 hours previously comparisons just can't be avoided.

Now The Return of the King is arguably the greatest movie made, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle is not.

The Return of the King has a excitement, a powerful story, wonderful characters, great actors, sensational photography, gripping suspense, and sheer class and majesty. Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle does not.

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle probably wins over on the humour, although Gimli the Dwarf's four or so one-liners probably get more laughs than all of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle's obvious efforts.

So what is good about the sequel to Charlie's Angels?

Well it doesn't go for over three hours, the stunt work is good (although it is overused and is so obviously blue-screened/computer generated or wirework it loses any power it may have had) and there is a rather nice cameo from John Cleese and one from original TV angel Jaclyn Smith (who still looks stunning).

And, there is Demi Moore as a fallen angel called Madison Lee.

Not only does she act rings around everyone else in the movie, she looks much better as well.

The main gals Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu (Natalie, Dylan and Alex) camp it up all over the place but most of their efforts are lost in a lack of subtlety.

The bad guy of the movie is a revenge-seeking Irishman called Seamus O'Grady (Justin Theroux) who has just about the worst irish accent I've ever heard.

I don't think he knew which side of the North-South divide he was on.

Anyway, that's the opinion of a 40-something-year-old chap.

Young teens will probably love Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Just don't expect to sit down with them and watch it without shaking your head and looking at your watch.

Conclusion: Movie 70% Extras 80%
