Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Special Edition

This movie has copped a critical flogging over the years - and I can't see why (see original review). It is a fun children's movie filled with some nasty baddies, great photography and a beaut classic car.

It also has Dick van Dyke, a very underrated and pleasant actor, who helps carry the movie along with his performance as off-beat inventor Caracatus Potts.

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

Okay, some of the songs are daggy, but it is a colourful tale filled with great characters like Grandpa Potts (Lionel Jeffries), the Child Catcher (Robert Helpman) and Baron Bomburst (Gert Frobe).

The photography is glorious - and this special edition has had a fantastic digital workover and rates a superb video transfer rating. It is also in widescreen, which was something the original release promised - but fibbed about.

My view of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is definitely coloured by having seen it on the big screen as a little tacker, but my kids seem to love it the same way I did.

If you like the movie then this special edition is the way to go.

Conclusion: Movie 85% Extras 80%
