Apart from studying for Princeton university, Sam has to
scrub diner floors, wait tables and then look after stepmum
and two ugly sisters at home.
If that wasn't enough, she's fallen for an unknown internet
chat room user and fallen foul of her school's ruthless cheerleader.
The secretive Mr Anonymous turns out to be Austin, the top
jock football player (Chad Michael Murray) who, despite being
rich, great looking and clever, is not a pain but a seemingly
nice guy.
But as the pair search to discover the identity of the other,
it is time for the school ball and despite being banned from
going Sam attends as a masked princess. She has to be home
by midnight - this ring any bells? - and on her way out loses
not her glass shoe, but her mobile phone.
As Austin tries to track down the unknown beauty the bad
gals at Sam's home discover the secret and set out to enlist
the help of his ex girlfriend - the cheerleader - to wreck
the romance.
A Cinderella Tale is very well acted by all of the characters
involved and its script allows them plenty of room to develop.
This is one you can sit down to with teenagers and be very
amused by.
