Agent Cody Banks

Review by James Anthony

Teenagers will love this movie. It has got almost everything they want in a yarn and plenty more besides.

It an action-adventure-comedy where a teenager Cody Banks (Frankie Muniz) gets to be a CIA spy and muck around saving the world.

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

He also gets to get up close with Natalie, the daughter of a scientist whose invention could actually bring about the end of the planet as we know it. There will be more teen hearts throbbing when they discover she is none other than Hilary Duff of Lizzie McGuire fame.

While good enough to become a spy Banks is a bit of a dud when it comes to talking to girls (and which teenage boys are not?) and this jeopardises his top secret mission.

Enter adult CIA agent Angie Harmon who, it has to be said, will have dads remembering their teen days as she suits up in outfits that are a mix between Dianna Rigg's Avengers garb and Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman. Move over Liz Hurley!

Now Agent Cody Banks is much more 007 than say Spy Kids and treats the subject in a serious-but-funny way. The action is very well done - especially the skateboarding rescue scene - and the movie moves along at a fast rate.

The cast is very likeable with the two teenage stars play it straight-ish. Harmon, however, steals just about every scene she's on camera. Ian McShane is good as the super nasty and is backed up by Arnold Vosloo of Mummy fame.

Conclusion: Movie 70% Extras 65%
