The Contaminated Man

Now the plot for The Contaminated Man is a pretty darn good one and starts off at a hell of a pace with a hell of a shock.

From a very good beginning the movie picks up momentum, loses its way a tad and then regains its hold on you.

Then, The Contaminated Man shoots itself in the foot (via the head) with an appallingly saccharine end that will have you puking faster than a victim of the deadly contamination.

Now, the actors all do their jobs well. William Hurt is excellent as David Whitman, a NATO hazardous waste expert, Natascha McElhone is Holly Anderson a stunning anti-terrorist brain and they meet when a just-sacked security guard Joseph Mueller (Peter Weller) accidentally sets off an explosion that releases a deadly toxic virus.

Weller plays the toxin-carrying escapee for all he's worth and anyone he comes into physical contact with dies horribly and quickly.

Not only must Whitman and Anderson try to track down the increasingly ill carrier, but also try to outwit some dirty-tricks experts on their own side.

The transfer is very good and the sound adds to the at-times nail-biting atmosphere.

However, without giving the game away, whoever dreamt up the ending - and one would suggest it wasn't the writer - then they should be infected with the toxin. They stuffed up what could have been a pretty good movie.

Still, check it out for yourselves.

Conclusion: Movie 65%, Extras 0%
