The stunningly bitchy Allie (played by Sarah Priest) returns to
Manchester with the smooth talking Finn (Ben Daniels) - her first love
who she has recently rekindled a romance with - only to find out that
the husband she left behind (played by the excellently spunky Jason
Merrells) has not only kicked her out of her home but also the salon
they had shared for 10 years. Allie hits back by
opening her own competing salon across the road, which can only cause
some delicious cheesy drama. But has she made the right choice between
the two men in her life?
Filled with colourful characters including Finns conniving ex wife and Allies rival Mia (superbly played by Amanda Holden) Cutting It explores the friendships, love, backstabbing and deception behind the scenes of these fictitious hair salons. Since beginning on the BBC in 2002, Cutting It
has spawned four series and shows no signs of slowing down. With an
average of 5 Million viewers a week in the UK, it's no wonder this was
one of the most talked about shows in Australia when it aired on the
ABC a few months back. To be honest, I hadn't really heard
of it until one of my friends hung up on me shouting "Hang on, it's
nearly finished, I'll call you after Cutting It". But now I understand the appeal. If you enjoy the trashiness of Footballers Wives and bitchiness of Melrose Place then you will love this highly entertaining British drama, and once your hooked, you too will be hanging up on your friends! With an exciting cliffhanger finale, Cutting It leaves you wanting for Season 3, if only to discover how the Ferraday/Henshall saga will end. EXTRASWith
commentary from the writer, producer and one of the lead actresses on a
couple of key episodes this extra feature allows viewers to learn some
additional information regarding the motivations behind the storylines
and behind the scenes gossip.
The DVD also includes a behind the
scenes look at the cast and crew which is perhaps a little too drawn
out. However the short ‘Inside Out’ TV Feature gives a good
insight into the background of the characters and introduces fans to
the actors themselves.
A brief preview of Season 3 is enough to wet the appetites of fans and give an indication of the drama that is to come. Conclusion:
