D-Tox follows the trials and tribulations of FBI agent
Jake Malloy, whose life goes nose down after his former colleagues
begin to die in very nasty (and gruesome) ways.
As if his nerves aren't shaky enough, the poor guy then loses
his girlfriend in the same fashion and so decides to blot
out the pain by sucking back on a bottle or three. And, unlike
a lot of Sly movies, the guy looks seriously awful when he
finally is checked into a detoxification clinic way out in
the snowy boondocks of Wyoming.
The detox centre is run by a former cop (Kris Kristofferson)
and is filled with a sizeable round of drunken coppers. There
are some terrific actors among the drunks and staff, including
Robert Prosky, Tom Berenger, Robert Patrick and Christopher
Fulford.
Just as he's about to start his treatment, however, people
start ending up dead and Jake has to not only deal with his
own problems (read massive hangover) but also the fact that
someone trapped in the centre by a snowstorm is the killer.
Now while D-Tox is not in the same class as Silence
of the Lambs, or Seven, it is an above-average
thriller and worth the time.
Conclusion: Movie 80%, Extras 50%
