DVDs 2007: The Winners and LosersWell,
another year has come and gone quicker than a husband of Britney Spears, an Australian Idol
in the music charts... or whatever other analogy you are inclined to
make. The short and the long of it is that the year of 2007 has past us
by.
In
an effort to look like we've been paying attention, the
Web Wombat DVD Channel team have put their brains together to nut out
the Best & Worst DVD release had to offer, in a year which saw some
flicks jame packed with extras - and some just packed full of crap. And the results are in...
THE WINNERS
 |
#1 - The Jungle Book : 40th Anniversary Edition
Why We Loved It:
A nostalgic classic that will please viewers young and old, plus it's
packed with Special Features - and damn good ones at that! One of the
best releases of the year. |
 |
#2 - Grandma's Boy
Why We Loved It: An underrated gem which totally bypassed cinemas in the US and Australia. From the brains at Happy Madison, this also features Superbad's Jonah Hill. Cult Comedy at it's best. |
 |
#3 - Deliver Us From Evil
Why We Loved It:
A shocking documentary which discloses some stunning facts and figures
about the Petophilic cover-ups in the Catholic Church. Do not miss! |
THE LOSERS
#1 - High School Musical : The Concert
Why We Hated It: There is very little why to like
this ridiculous excuse to sell a buttload of DVDs. It's cheesy, it's
annoying, the kids will play it non-stop, and worst of all... the songs
are catchy. |
 |
#2 - BoyTown
Why We Hated It: Not only was the flick itself a let down, but the extras were woeful. A feud broke out between Molloy & Tony Martin after the "Boytown Confidential" film was not included as an extra. It needed it! |
 |
#3 - UKM : The Ultimate Killing Machine
Why We Hated It:
Michael Madsen (Resovoir Dogs) shows exactly where his career has gone
- down the pooper! This terrible B-Grade Horror flick is scarce on
scares or quality. |
