William
H.Macy plays Edmond, a brutally unhappy businessman who, after a visit
with a fortune-teller, learns that he’s “not where he’s supposed to
be”. Intrigued by the information, Edmond starts to re-asses his
current situation – starting by kicking his wife out on the street, and
going on a search for sexual gratification on the streets. These
changes aren’t doing him any good though – especially when his
impulsive actions result in murder.
With excellent supporting performances from Julia Stiles (Save the Last Dance) and Joe Mantegna (Homicide), Edmond
is an interesting-enough and rather compelling thriller (might even go
so far as to say it’s a horror), but it doesn’t move fast enough or
encompass anything gripping enough to sustain the interest of your
commonplace movie fan.
