Exit Wounds

Review by James Anthony

Either I'm going senile, or Steven Seagal is picking better scripts to work with. Probably it's the latter, because Exit Wounds is actually a rather good cop-action movie to watch.

Okay, big Steve's face still has the elasticity of Pinocchio's, but now he doesn't really try to do anything other than be himself - a kick-arse martial arts dude.

In Exit Wounds he plays another loner, a cop who can't keep out of trouble with his higher-ups because he bends the rules a considerable way.

He's fantastic at his job, brings in baddies five at a time, but just can't seem to stop stepping on people's toes.

Even when he saves the life of the US vice-president he finds himself in hot water. So, his penance is to go to the worst precinct in town and enrol in anger management classes.

However, life isn't going to stay quiet for long and he finds himself embroiled with corrupt police, a drug dealer and lots of naughty goings on.

There's action aplenty and a storyline that has twists, turns and will keep your mind occupied far more than in a lot of more "serious" films of late.

Rapper DMX is very good as a local gangster, and Exit Wounds has a solid back-up cast of support actors and actresses.

It won't win any Oscars, but Exit Wounds is worth spending a night in front of the DVD player for.

Conclusion: Movie 80%, Extras 60%
