Unfortunately for him, his girlfriend Cindy (Richards) is
even less deep than he is and she drops him like a hot potato,
quits her job and heads off to Brazil with some Latin lover.
Desperate for cash Ryan decides to hijack his ex's Dear Cindy
column in a small newspaper owned by (Angie Harmon) and despite
some very funny replies doesn't make a very big impression
as a sensitive guy.
Mind you, with a lot of help from his mate Jon Lovitz, Ryan
somehow manages to get in touch with his sensitive inner self
and soon has New York scrambling to buy the paper in order
to get his words of wisdom.
Throw in a devious businessman, falling in love with the
boss, the return of Cindy as well as revenge and Good Advice
offers a lot of fun.
It's not deep, but it is enjoyable.
Sheen is terrific as Ryan, Harmon utterly exquisite as the
boss and Richards is bordering on loathsome as the bubblehead.
Add Jon Lovitz, Rosanna Arquette and the scene-stealing Estelle
Harris to the cast and you have a mix of talents that delights
in the mayhem.
