Not surprisingly,
the good mostly comes from the fact that this is the sixth film, and so
we already both like the characters and want to see what happens
next.
What is surprising is that while there are various
evil deeds afoot and everything is at stake and the dark past of
Voldemort, AKA Tom Riddle is delved into, what's more interesting is
the romantic fumblings involving the teen aged (well, they are playing
teenagers) trio at the centre of the series.
Will Harry
(Daniel Radcliffe) finally get it together with Ginney Weasley (Bonnie
Wright), sister of his best mate Ron (Rupert Grint) - and will Ron
figure out that Hermonie (Emma Watson) has a massive crush on
him?
Much clumsy teen love and snogging follows, making
this both the most grown-up and in some ways the most fun of the series
to date.
Meanwhile the maybe evil, maybe conflicted
Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) has a job to do that might just involve
killing off Harry Potter, and everyone else is fairly worried about the
seemingly unstoppable rise of Voldemort's evil, even if Voldemort
himself seems to be keeping a very low profile.
There are enough hints of the fun magic (not to mention a Quidditch match) of
earlier films to keep the faith with the earlier installments in the
series too, but this is undoubtedly a darker film than what we've already
seen, and a very creepy sequence set in a shoreline cave will give
pretty much anyone of any age nightmares.
But there are
still two films to go (the last book is being split into two films), so
while this moves things forward we are still a long, long way from
wrapping things up.
If you have enjoyed the Harry Potter
series until now, you will have no complaints here; if you haven't,
it's been good enough for long enough that you don't really have any
excuse. DVD Special Features
If there is one thing the folks at Hogwarts know how to do, it's
delivering value for money when it comes to DVD Special Features.
There's plenty to quench the thirst of any die hard muggle including
Additional Scenes, a cool featurette "J.K Rowling : A Year In The Life"
which looks at the journey in Creating and Launching the final book,
plus a bunch of stuff on the various aspects of Movie Making (like
Editing, Makeup, Stunt, Set Design, Props, Costumes, etc).
Fans
will love the Lightning Round Q & A with Cast and Crew - but the
real draw card is the sneak peek at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
at Universal Orlando Resort. It's amazing!
Well worth grabbing for any Harry Potter fans - easily the best franchise around!
