Headlined by Matt Day and Lisa McCune great actors,
but terribly miscast as lovers Hell has Harbour
Views meshes black comedy, romance and drama to tell
the tale of a hopeful young Lawyer.
Hugh Walker is the budding law man (played by Day
and does he remind anyone else of a young Mel Gibson?), who
realises youve got to be as shady as a good picnic area
to rise to the top.
Based on the novel by Richard Beasley, the film tracks Walkers
transformation from ambulance-chasing ladies man to moralistic,
loyal good-guy, all pretty much thanks to feisty journalist,
Caroline (played by McCune), who tries (everyones allowed
one slip up, right?) to put him on the right track. Whats
the right track? The opposite route that his senior partners
are taking.
A stylish, very entertaining little piece, Views
is proof that we can still spit out great stories here.
In addition, weve got a fine lot of actors in this
country, and Views is a showcase for quite a few
of them Peter OBrien, Tony Llewellyn-Jones, Peter
O'Brien, Tony Barry, Kris McQuade, Frank Whitten, Tiriel Mora,
Simon Chilvers and Freya Stafford and the always dependable
Steve Bisley.
The flick, originally broadcast on ABC, looks and sounds
fine on DVD. Its handy if youve got a dodgy Aunty
(ABC) reception.
Conclusion: Movie 80% Extras 0%
