Impostor

Even when it boasts a good cast, a sci-fi movie has you taking your viewing credibility in your hands when you sit down to it.

Unless it is a massive-budget, special-effects extravaganza the chances are you are about to inflict upon yourself about 90 minutes of garbage.

However, I can tell you that Impostor is not one of those 'stinker' sci-fi efforts and is actually a pretty damn good yarn of a troubled world of the future.

It is set in 2079 and Earth is being attacked by nasty aliens who want to destroy us.

To counter the threat our most brilliant minds are set towards building weapons that will ensure mankind's survival.

One such mind is Spencer Olham (Gary Sinise) who is so fantastic at his job he is about to meet the planet's Big Chief herself. Just as things are looking fine for Olham and his surgeon wife Maya (Madeleine Stowe) all of a sudden an over enthusiastic security chap ruins the party.

Hathaway (Vincent D'Onofrio) has uncovered an alien plot to substitute key humans with alien doubles and use them to destroy the Earth. Hathaway accuses Olham of being one such alien and forces the good chap to flee for his life.

Impostor follows Olham's efforts to not only survive, but also prove his innocence.

The three key players are all excellent in Impostor and lend a huge amount of believability to the movie.

The production values are excellent and the story itself, from Blade Runner and Total Recall writer Philip Dick, makes for a wonderful psychological drama.

Transfer-wise, Impostor is a beauty and the sound had heads turning in the office as the desks started to shake.

Impostor is well worth your time.

Conclusion: Movie 80% Extras 20%
