Jackass 3

Review by Sean Lynch

No matter how superior you try and make yourself appear to other people, there is simply no getting past the fact that deep down we all secretly love MTV’s golden cash cow Jackass.

In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Julia Gillard has a poster of Johnny Knoxville on her office wall, one where he is "Moving Forward"... most likely to get away from projectile vomit.

jackass 3

Therefore, it’s no surprise that Jackass 3D took in a whopping $171M at the worldwide Box Office (costing just over $20M to make - cha ching!) – setting the record for the biggest October weekend ever at the American Box Office.

It easily beat out the previous record (held by it’s predecessor Jackass : Number Two which took in close to $30M on opening weekend) and now means the Jackass movies have made over $335M worldwide alone (and have cost less than $40M to make all three combined).

Jackass started as a TV stunt and prank show on MTV from 2000 to 2002 and quickly turned into an international phenomenon. Johnny Knoxville and company return for the third installment of their TV show spin-off, where dangerous stunts and explicit public displays rule.

The question is : Can these ageing fools still be shocking almost 10 years after their prime? The short answer : Hell Yes!

While the level of "Fun" the guys are having appears a little more forced than usual (and why wouldn't it, these are no longer drunk teens - but grown men with families), the sheer silliness of the who excercise is truly infectious.

Whether it's Johnny Knoxville dressed up as an old man on  a scooter crashing through windows (addmitedly, the weakest part of the entire film), or Ryan Dunn getting blasted in the face by a Jet Engine, a giant hand slapping the bejesus out of unsuspecting idiots - or half naked men running through a hallway full of tazers... there fast paced stupidity delivers laugh out loud moments every time.

Yeah, sure, the guys are starting to look a little to old for this now. But if this is the Jackass swan-song, it hits all the right notes.

DVD Special Features

Heaps of Special Features - and it's just the beginning with "Jackass 3.5" on its way onto DVD shelves soon (which is made up of stuff that didn't make this version of the film).

So, included here is 2 versions of the movie - Uncut and Theatrical - as well as an MTV Making of Special, Outtakes, Deleted Scenes and a Time Magazine Trailer.

Conclusion - Movie: 80% Extras: 75%
