So the opinionated former star is forced to move back in
with his no-nonsense aunt and re-assess his life.
Along the way he decides to keep playing basketball, but
to do so means doing so in disguise - and as a woman.
So Juwanna Mann is born and pretty soon she is starring in
the women's league.
Now I know it is not an original concept and there is a huge
danger that a movie about a big-headed sexist pig could backfire
and be very, very tacky, however, Juwanna Mann manages
to tread the line between funny and poor taste rather well.
As his on-screen male alter ego, Nunez is obnoxious and painful,
but as Juwanna he plays it rather well. He doesn't go over
the top and the movie doesn't go down the path of him acting
on his male impulses in the post-game showers or rubbing oil
into his teammate's back.
It is all done with civility the lessons he learns about
being pleasant and being a team player will appeal to all.
There are some very funnt bits, some on-the-edge areas, but
overrall Juwanna Mann is an entertaining night's viewing.
Better than I thought it was going to be.
Conclusion: 85% Extras: 20%.
