The Little Vampire

If the little darlings are getting a bit anxious to move on from "kids' movies" then The Little Vampire is not a bad way to go.

It is the tale of a young American lad, Tony (Jonathan Lipnicki) who moves with his family to Scotland so his dad can build a new golf course.

He's not having a good time of it, but begins to enjoy his stay when he befriends a young vampire Rudolph (Rollo Weeks) whose ancient family of vampires wants to become human again through the magic of the comet Attamon.

The last time the vampires - dad Frederick Sackville-Bagg (Richard E. Grant) and mum Freda Sackville-Bragg (Alice Krige) tried to convert was on the comet's last visit 300 years before, but that chance was ruined by a vampire hunter (Jim Carter).

Now his descendant is out to do the same again unless Tony can help the vampires find an amulet of power made out of a fragment of comet Attamon.

The Little Vampire is only a little bit creepy, but full of good effects, and shouldn't give the youngsters too many nightmares. The transfer is pretty good and copes well with the lots of great colour used in the movie.

Conclusion: Movie 75%, Extras 20%
