Harold Pelham (Roger Moore) is the epitome of English middle class respectability. He is a director of a long established 'city' company that has maritime interests.

Harold is married to Eve (Hildegarde Neil), a conventional housewife who feels neglected by her staid husband. They have two young sons Alastair (Michael Pelham) and Hugh (James Pelham).

The Man Who Haunted Himself

One night on the way home driving a sedate Rover Harold imagines he's driving a state of the art Lamborghini sports car. Overtaking every vehicle on the road he loses control and plunges into oblivion.

While in intensive care his heart stops. As it re-starts, for a moment, two beats show on the oscilloscope.

Some weeks later when he returns to work odd events occur. He is being impersonated. Someone pretending to be him has been; on holiday in Spain, has a mistress and is a regular at racy gambling clubs.

Is he schizophrenic? Or have an unknown twin?

The Man Who Haunted Himself is one of Roger Moore's best films. He conveys the two halves of the same coin with style. The screenplay is adapted from a story presented on the 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents' television series.

For the director Basil Deardon it is the final film; ironically he dies in a car crash.

On several levels this is a movie worth watching.

Conclusion: Movie 85% Extras 0%
