Fancy a whole lot of adventure and even more fun? Well race on out and pick up a copy of National Treasure, the latest picture starring the ever-so-engaging Nicolas Cage.

Cage plays a treasure hunter called Ben Gates who is following in a long family tradition of tracking one of the richest troves ever put together by mankind.

National Treasure

In fact it is so much - dating from ancient times - that the Knights Templar order believed it too great for one person to control and so they hid it with only the Masons knowing the clues to find it.

By accident an ancestor of Gates was given one of the clues and since then they have ruined themselves trying to locate the treasure.

Now as you would expect, a great amount of money means a great amount of trouble and Gates find himself being hunted by both former friends and unknown enemies. Fortunately he has a pretty handy assistant in Riley (Justin Bartha) and a much prettier new friend in historical expert Dr Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger).

Things really start to fire up when Gates realises he needs to steal an American national treasure in order to complete the puzzle as to where the great Templar trove is stored. That item, however, is unstealable, so the experts reckon.

Needless to say our boy gives it a go and what follows is a damn exciting tale exceptionally well put together with action, humour and pace.

Cage returns to his lighter roles for National Treasure, which is a relief for someone who prefers him that way, and he is ably backed up by such actors as Sean Bean, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight, Christopher Plummer and Bartha.

The film transfer is excellent and the sound will have the speakers zinging.

National Treasure can be heartily recommended.
