The basic plot is this. Mitch (Luke Wilson) has a surprise
encounter with his girlfriend and another couple when he flies
in early from a conference and discovers that he is a lot
less adventurous than she is.
He leaves her and moves into a near-campus house that his
friends think is the perfect spot to party loud and hard.
Both Frank (Will Ferrell) and Beanie (Vince Vaughan) want
to relive their college days - Frank doesn't want to grow
up, and Beanie needs a place to chill out away from wife,
kids and business.
Despite the age gap between themselves and the local students,
the guys are instant successes - so much so that an old foe,
now the university Dean, sets about throwing them out.
To save their ideal location the guys decide to form a fraternity
and get together a weird and wonderful collection of non-uni
types.
Old School is funny, sometimes earning loud laughs
with some hilarious moments. The scene where Frank shoots
himself with a tranquiliser is a hoot, but the pick has to
be when his ex and her friends get a gay guy to give them
lessons on giving oral sex. You may never loook at a carrot
the same way!
Both the audio and video transfers in Old School are
very good indeed.
Now as an aside I would very much like to go the way of old
Blue at the KY jelly-wrestling contest. I'll say no more.
