The Perfect Fit

Review by Lisa Dib

Directed by newbie Ron Brown, A Perfect Fit is the story of John Totersohn and his freakish misplaced reality. His mind takes him to deeply frightening places, due mostly to a traumatic childhood.

He finally seeks help and becomes secure enough to find a nice young lady called Sarah, after using his good looks and his boyish charm to woo her into a tentative relationship. Sound like things are going well for our protagonist? Guess again, dear reader.

A Perfect Fit

The relationship goes downhill from the get-go: after some brief contentment, Sarah becomes pregnant and John is all but mental by this point. He attempts to make an honest woman of her and propose and everything he thinks a man should do in such a situation, but it’s all too late.

After humiliating Sarah in front of her family and friends, degrading her sexually and suffocating her (figuratively, of course) she soon reveals that she has aborted the baby and wants to leave the 'slowly-turning-insane' John, who is convinced that his doctor and former fiancée have joined forces in a conspiracy to drive him mad.

A-Grade Hollywood fodder.... in the wrong hands.

The saddest thing about this film wasn’t the plot at all. The plot had the potential to be something great, and ended something mediocre and hackneyed, though not eye-gougingly repulsive. The heartbreaking part was that it could’ve been so much more than it was. I never cared about the characters; even the supposed freakish twist seemed forced and stale. It was like watching a high school play of a blockbuster film.

Adrian Grenier was less than breathtaking in this film; I had only ever seen him in teen-romances so I expected this to be his moment of greatness, a notion that turned into sour regret after watching the stolid portrayal of a madman.

I guess you’d have to watch it for yourself, maybe chuck it on one day when you need to get one more video to make up the deal at the Blockbuster and judge for yourself.

EXTRAS

Nothing to impressive. A failry bland behind the scenes featurrerte, a few trailer and of course - a phot gallery.

But we aren't here for the extras... but a few decent ones would have been nice though.

Conclusion: Movie 65% Extras: 50%
