Poirot : Five Little Pigs

Review by James Anthony

It has taken quite a bit of time for this fellow to begin to enjoy David Suchet's portrayal of the great Belgian detective Hercules Poirot.

Don't get me wrong, Suchet is a superb actor and I have enjoyed his work for years, but perhaps his ultra-dapper little investigator was too ultra-dapper and prissy for my mind.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

However, having watched three of the latest of Poirot's brain teasers I am really beginning to like Agatha Christie's little murder solver.

In Five Little Pigs Poirot is called in to look at a solved murder case where a philandering artist died and his wife was hanged for the killing 14 years before.

Poirot is approached by the orphaned daughter Lucy and he must do what he can to gather new clues to prove, or disprove, that her mother committed the crime.

It is fair to say that this one will have you guessing a bit - it did me - and for once Poirot was faster at solving the crime. The swine.

Anyway, the production values in this episode are superb and the video transfer a treat.

The acting - which comes froma cast including Toby Stephens, Aidan Cullen, Gemma Jones and Marc Warren - is excellent.

Conclusion: Movie 85% Extras 20%
