Rush Hour 2

I never had any doubt about Jackie Chan's ability to kick arse - his martial arts skills are gobsmackingly good - however Chris (The Fifth Element) Tucker?

Could the man who played the marvellously annoying space DJ opposite Bruce Willis (remember "bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz"?) now play a more serious role?

Well … no, not really. However, Tucker is terrific in Rush Hour 2 and mixes his comic touches nicely with some dead-set booty-kicking action. The fight scene in the Hong Kong brothel is not only a hoot, but damn clever action stunts.

The story of Rush Hour 2 is that LAPD cop James Carter (Tucker) is on hols visiting his mate Chief Inspector Lee (Chan) in Hong Kong. Unfortunately for Carter, the local rozzer isn't on holiday and is in fact deep into a case involving Ricky Tan (John Lone) the most deadly Triad leader around.

What follows as Carter puts his size 10 feet into his size 30 mouth is not only action-packed but super funny as well. These guys work exceptionally well together and - as you see from the out-takes - get on really well.

Lone is suavely menacing as Tan and has very able back-up in the form of his hitwoman Hu Li (Zhang Ziyi from Crouching Tiger…). She is stunningly gorgeous with a huge twist of evil. Another professional female is Rosslyn Sanchez as the would-be love interest/drugs enforcement officer.

The transfer is excellent and the sound spot on. Rush Hour 2 is 90 minutes of terrific action and fun and will have you smiling, if not downright laughing, at some of the odd couple's antics.

I'm looking forward to Rush Hour 3!

Conclusion: Movie: 90% DVD Extras: 95%
