(1977)
Universal
123 minutes
M15+

Director: George Roy Hill.

Cast: Paul Newman, Michael Ontkean, Jennifer Warren, Lindsay Crouse, Strother Martin, the Hanson Brothers.

Format: Widescreen. Single-sided, dual-layer disc.

Language: English. Dolby Stereo.

Subtitles: .

Extras: Hanson Brothers' (real life players David Hanson and brothers Jeff and Steve Carlson) audio commentary, Hanson Brothers interview, theatrical trailer.

Comments: The Hanson brothers feature heavily in the Slap Shot extras, but so they should as not only are they key parts to the movie, but were professional ice hockey players when they played the roles. As you would expect the commentary is filled with earthy bits and also some very funny comments on their slot-racing cars, how the actors skated and general side aspects to filming - such as the badly treated coke machine. It's pretty interesting and if you liked the movie then is worth the time to listen. The guys' interview is also fun and you find out how after Slap Shot was released fans of their real team would turn up as if they were the Hansons from the movie.
