Called out of self-retirement, Juni needs to move into the
game to rescue Carmen and stop the Toy Maker (Sylvester Stallone)
from carrying out his evil plan.
What follows is an amazing visual ride as Juni and some fellow
gamers battle to beat the artificial intelligence set against
them.
Spy Kids 3D comes with four pairs of 3D glasses but, as there
is a 2D version of the game, take my advice and don't worry
about them. I found the 3D just did not work well enough to
justify the potential eye strain and even the kids thought
the 2D version more watchable and fun.
Having enjoyed both of the previous Spy Kids adventures I
enjoyed this effort, but not as much as the earlier films.
Both of the leads are great and carry the film well, and
of the adults only Ricardo Montalban features through most
of the duration. The others - a who's who of actors including
Steve Buscemi, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, George Clooney,
Allan Cumming - were on set for a very short time and get
cameo roles.
Sylvester Stallone, a much maligned actor at times, is not
great as the Toy Maker.
