Super Size Me

Now a lot of people around the world eat at McDonalds - some 40 million meals a day they reckon.

None of them, in this fellow's less-than-humble opinion, are doing themselves any favours by taking the easy way out when it comes to stopping hunger pangs.

Super Size Me

Food is supposed to taste good and - I'll confess with the exception of some things on Macca's breakfast menu - there is nothing that excites my taste buds.

In Super Size Me, film-maker Morgan Spurlock begins to make a documentary on how fat Americans (and Westerners) are getting and why experts blame it on the amount of takeaway fast foods folk are wolfing down.

Spurlock decides to test the Macca's offerings by only eating that stuff for a month. He has to try everything on the menu at least once and, if offered super size meals, can take them.

Ominously his first super-size meal makes him throw up out of his car window.

Before he began his ordeal, Spurlock had medical tests to show he was in peak physical condition. Within two weeks his body was showing signs of being dangerously overloaded with fats and sugar and you can actually see his decline happening before your eyes.

Super Size Me is a brilliant piece of documentary making that should make everyone think twice before visiting a fast-food joint.

It is a must-see for parents - as takeway foods are being blamed for the explosion in fat children in Western nations - and one would recommend that it be shown in schools around the world.

If you doubt the thrust of this doco just have a look at the shapes of those folk in fast-food places. I bet you don't see one slim-line body.

Conclusion: Movie 95% Extras N/A
