Texas Rangers

Review by James Anthony

In the bad old days of the Wild West Texas was a violent part of the country where the law of the gun ruled.

Those who could hire the most guns generally ran the place and if they were taken to task by the law then they'd just hire even more guns.

One such nasty is John King Fisher (Alfred Molina) who wants to rule the new territory and make a lot of money doing so.

Unfortunately during one of his raids a lot of townsfolk get killed and this sparks a desire for revenge on the part of one young fellow named Lincoln Rogers Dunnison (James Van Der Beek).

He heads off to join the Texas Rangers, a famous outift that had tried to be the state fairly law-abiding before they had disbanded to fight in the American Civil War on the Confederate side.

Now they are back - and recuiting - and so Dunnison joins the rangers who are headed by a dark-past haunted ex-preacher McNelly (Dylan McDermott) and John Armstrong (Robert Patrick).

Things don't go well for the newbies of the rangers and it is fair to say they get their butts kicked horribly. But, as one would expect, they keep on and help make Texas Rangers a pretty damn good western.

The photography is lovely - aided by an excellent video transfer - and the action scenes are hot.

All up, a good evening's entertainment.

Conclusion: Movie 75% Extras 20%
