Thunderpants

This very British comedy embodies not only Anglo-Saxon internal workings fetishes, but unleashes them in a fiercely unashamed way.

For Thunderpants is the story of a young English lad, Patrick Smash (Bruce Cook), who was born with two stomachs.

It’s not so much he eats too much – far from it, he is instead cursed by flatulence of typhoon-like ferocity.

Poor young Patrick is a fearsome farter whose intestines spark panic in enclosed spaces and create chaos in school assemblies.

Luckily for him he makes friends with a young geek called Alan A Allen (Rupert Grint) who not only may be able to invent something to help him, but also doesn’t have a sense of smell.

Together they manage to turn Patrick’s unfortunate habit into adventures with an opera vendetta and space travel.

Thunderpants is very much a one-joke movie that manages to remain amusing, while not always in good taste.

Still, it did manage to attract actors of the caliber of Simon Callow, Stephen Fry and Ned Beatty and it’s also interesting to see Rupert Grint before he won fame in the Harry Potter films.

Conclusion: Movie 70%
