I'm the first to admit that the phenomenon that is Twilight
just isn’t for me, it's totally bypassed my brain. In fact, sometimes
it genuinely feels like those "Twi-hards" are watching a completely
different set of films than I am.
Why? Well, in no uncertain terms, The Twilight Saga : New Moon is a terrible movie on a truly grand scale - yet somehow it has managed to win over the world.
But those reading this aren't here for a lecture on film, you are most likely a Twilight fan looking for a quick fix. So here is our review, as if it were from the mind of a diehard fan of the franchise...
The good news is that New Moon is relatively close to the book, at least much closer than Twilight
was. Thankfully, for those of us who go to see movies for more than
just buff bods, the performances are much tighter (and less Days Of Our Lives) this time around too.
Kristen Stewart casts aside the "blinking and stuttering" of the original Twilight,
Robert Pattison kicks it up a gear giving Edward a James Dean-esque
appeal. The same goes with Hollywood's hottest property Taylor Lautner
who is bigger, older, funnier and really stamps himself as a real
potential star here.
There is some good news for boys, there is
a hell of a lot more action this time around – and pretty well
structured action at that - especially when it comes to the final
battle at the end of the film.
New Moon also delivers a great deal more laughs this time around, which is very much welcome, as Twilight was void of any human emotion whatsoever.
Ultimately New Moon is still just for the gals. Anyone not yet under the Twilight spell... go to the DVD store and buy pretty much anything... because you will likely enjoy it more. DVD Special Features
For Twilight fans, the 2 Disc Edition is the way to go.
It's positively jam packed with extras including an Exclusive Eclipse Sneak Peek,
a bunch of featurettes like "Team Jacob vs Team Edward: The Ultimate
Love Triangle", as well as some music video from the likes of Death Cab
for Cutie and Muse to keep those soundtrack sales ticking along.
Conclusion:
Movie 65% Extras: 70%
