Starring Chris O'Donnell, Bill Paxton, Robin Tunney, Scott
Glen and Izabella Scorupco, Vertical Limits will have you
swaying between holding your breath, gripping the seat, or
trying not to puke through some amazing vertigo-inducing special
effects.
The entertainingly believable yarn follows the cold relationship
between brother and sister O'Donnell and Tunney, who have
not spoken since a rock-climbing tragedy three years before.
The incident in Monument Valley has put O'Donnell off climbing
for life and he is now a wildlife photographer. Tunney, while
traumatised, has returned to climbing and is helping to lead
an expedition up K2.
Financed by mega-rich swine Bill Paxton, the team heads off
and fails to turn back when warned about an imminent storm.
Disaster strikes and it's up to O'Donnell and a team of misfits
to try to save them.
The action is pretty much non-stop and covers everything
from wild weather, crevasses, avalanches, rock slides, unstable
nitro-glycerine, a killer and lots and lots of snow and ice.
Vertical Limit's special effects are spectacular and will
have you believing utterly that the characters are hanging
off ropes thousands of metres in the air.
Added to some brilliant photography and a superb transfer
on to DVD, Vertical Limit is a very entertaining couple of
hours escapism.
Perfect for a cold winter's night.
