Whipped

Review by James Anthony

The screams from reviewers who hated this movie are still echoing around the lounges of Australia - although, in the opinion of Mrs A and myself, it is pretty good.

And, keeping in mind the content of Whipped, the opinion of an intelligent woman is a very good indicator as to its worth.

Basically, Whipped is a very-close-to-the-edge examination of how guys go around trying to bed every woman and the tricks they use to do so.

Now, Brad (Brian van Holt), Zeke (Zorie Barber) and Jonathan (Jonathan Abrahams) are okay in the looks department, have all the style they need to get a girl's attention, but are not interested in getting serious with a girl.

They have Sunday breakfasts with each other and a fourth, now-married mate called Eric (Judah Domke) and try to beat each other with their tales from the week before.

Some of these flashbacks are seriously funny, while others are hideous.

Anyway, these guys all of a sudden meet the girl of their dreams and madly fall in love. The problem is, it's the same girl - Mia (Amada Peet).

And when we say problems, there are real problems, and the chaps' long friendship ends up under real threat.

Whipped, which is obviously short for Pussy Whipped has some terrific moments, some awful moments, but generally is pretty good viewing.

Mind you, if it wasn't for the terrific twist it wouldn't rate so highly.

Conclusion: Movie 75%, Extras 20%
