The Wiggles: Yummy Yummy and Wiggle Time

Review by James Anthony

Thank God the Wiggles have gone digital and plonked their material from early videos on to disc, as it gave them the chance to remove from existence some of their appalling in-front-of-camera performances.

The music is the same as on the original Yummy Yummy and Wiggle Time vids – with a few additional songs in each – but the mega-successful Wiggles can now look at the programmes without cringing.

Remember their hopeless miming, the hammy acting, Jeff getting lost at the drop of a hat, Murray gawping at the end of each song, Greg’s voice rising at the end of every line and that horrible scene where the kid wants to make a rock-that-is-only-solid out of play dough? Yup, hideous moments in Australian TV, that’s for sure.

Anyway you’ll be pleased to know that while the catchy and fun songs remain – the rest of the shows have had a real boost. The four guys (don’t forget Anthony) are joined by Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog, Dorothy the Dinosaur and Henry the Octopus.

There are a heap of terrific songs for the kids and it’s all good fun. And, at around $25 its excellent value for the kids.

Conclusion: 80%
