Wonder Woman: Season 1

Review by Clint Morris

The most famous bras and undies set in television history has made its long-awaited transition to DVD.

NBC’s 'Wonder Woman', based on the comics of the same name and starring Lynda Carter in the title role, centred on a lass named Princess Diana (we kid you not) who has left her idealistic contemporary-set lifestyle for an existence in the jungle.

Wonder Woman: Season 1

She’s hardly bored either – with an invisible jet, abundance of magical supplies and knock’em dead attitude, Wonder Woman has more than a few toys to occupy her time – which she mostly uses when running into those dreaded Nazi’s.

Every season one episode, including the original pilot, is included in the set. Carter and executive producer Douglas Cramer provide interesting commentary for that two-hour opener, spilling an abundance of trivia and insight into what went into making it.

The first episode is quite a goodie too. A major is shot down near Diana’s jungle surrounds and it’s decided that she’s the one that has to get him back to safety. Of course, when she reaches civilization, she realises it’s a whole new ball game.

Whilst not quite as campy as the original 'Batman' series, ' “Wonder Woman' still gives the latter show a run for it’s money when it comes to wooden acting. Some of the acting in this is just atrocious. Yet, like 'Batman', the inanity of it all seems to add to the shows appeal.

At the end of the day though, it’s no “Incredible Hulk”.

DVD Extras

Extras wise, we get the above commentary, plus “Beauty, Brawn and Bulletproof Bracelets: A Wonder Woman Retrospective”, which is pretty self-explanatory. It covers similar ground to the commentary track, but never the less, will – like the series itself – interest fans.

Conclusion: Movie 65% Extras: 80%
